Why join FAA?
Your health and well-being depends on our threatened environment.
- Why should we have the world’s highest rate of hospitalisation for emissions-induced lung problems?
- Do we have to suffer construction site noise, dust and dirt pollution which contribute to many illnesses?
- With over 75,000 vacant units, unbuilt plots in towns and villages and a population set to decline, can we afford to build on the fast disappearing virgin countryside we have left?
- With the closure of 11 tourist complexes and many more hotels, why put off tourists by building more hotels, complexes and golf courses on land of ecological, archaeological and scenic value?
- Do we really have to cut down our trees and demolish our heritage buildings rather than restore them? Why are so many of our new buildings so ugly?
- Do we have to accept injuries, deaths and damage to neighbouring properties due to unsafe building practices?
- Why is official action so lacking on planning abuse, air pollution, public transport and water/energy conservation?
WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TOLERATE INSTITUTIONS WHICH DO NOT RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF THE CITIZEN
FAA has set up several residents’ groups in Malta and Gozo, providing training and constant guidance on planning issues and carrying out extensive campaigns through the hard work of FAA volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to these issues.
It is time to stop feeling helpless and daunted. Join FAA and make a difference. Take the first positive step towards improving things for yourself and future generations!
What’s in it for you?
By joining FAA you can have a say in decisions that affect your quality of life, developments in your town/village, the preservation of our national monuments and ensure that it is all in line with Maltese and EU laws.
Once you become a member of FAA:
- You will receive updates about environmental developments and cultural events, such as art exhibitions, that FAA organises to promote Maltese heritage.
- FAA regularly organises enjoyable social events to raise funds for the organisation while meeting friends.
- On issues of national importance, FAA joins forces with other NGOs to coordinate public rallies.
- FAA also organises interesting talks and courses to raise awareness on urban and rural heritage as well as quality of life issues. These talks are free of charge to members, allowing them to quickly recoup their contribution to FAA. We also regularly inform members of courses organised by other bodies that offer discounted prices to FAA members.
